Pro feature · Built into Starkive

Send sensitive information
no one else can read.

Share a Secret encrypts your message or file before it leaves your computer. The recipient gets a link. They open it, they read it, and the link is gone. Nothing is stored in plaintext anywhere.

No account or sign-in needed to create, send, or receive a secret.

How it works

From typing to delivery in under a minute.

✏️
Step 1

Type your secret

Type a password, paste an API key, or attach a file. Whatever you need to send.

🔐
Step 2

It gets encrypted

Starkive encrypts everything on your computer before anything leaves it. We never see it.

🔗
Step 3

You get a link

Copy a unique link like starkive.app/s/★Vega and send it however you like: email, Slack, text.

👁️
Step 4

They open it, it's gone

The recipient sees the secret once. The link self-destructs immediately after.

Want to keep everything off the internet entirely? Save as a local file instead.

Passwords in Slack are a bad idea. We all do it anyway.

When someone needs a password, the fastest thing to do is paste it into chat. The problem is that Slack, Teams, and Gmail store those messages on servers you don't control, sometimes indefinitely. A breach, a subpoena, or an IT audit can expose what you sent years ago.

💬

Chat isn't built for secrets

Every message you send is stored in plaintext on someone else's server. That includes the password you pasted last Tuesday.

📋

Clipboard history betrays you

Copy a password and it sits in your clipboard manager, your browser autofill, maybe a screenshot. You meant to clear it. You didn't.

🔑

You can't unsend a message

Once a secret is in a chat thread, it's there until someone deletes it. With Share a Secret, the link expires the moment it's opened.

Two ways to deliver

Both options encrypt on your device first. You choose where the encrypted content goes.

🌐

Shareable web link

Most common · Recipient needs no app

Type your secret, choose a passphrase, and click Share. Starkive encrypts the content and gives you a link. Send the link over any channel and the passphrase separately, by text, by phone, however you like.

When the recipient opens the link in their browser, they enter the passphrase and see the secret. The link deletes itself immediately after.

Good to know

  • No account or sign-in needed to create or send
  • Recipient needs no app; any browser works
  • Link expires after the first open
  • Plaintext never reaches our servers
📁

Local encrypted file

Nothing touches the internet

If you'd rather keep everything off the internet, Starkive saves your encrypted content as a .ssz file on your computer. Share it over USB, a network drive, or as an email attachment.

The recipient opens the file in Starkive on their PC or Mac and enters the passphrase. No internet connection required on either end.

Good to know

  • Completely offline; no internet needed
  • Works for any file type
  • Recipient needs Starkive to open the file

Encryption shouldn't be something you have to think about.

Share a Secret is built into Starkive and takes about 30 seconds to use.

Who uses it

Anyone who's ever typed a password into a chat window.

⚙️

DevOps and IT teams

Onboard new developers without pasting API keys and database credentials into Slack. The new hire gets a one-time link, they open it, it disappears.

🗂️

HR and operations

New hire paperwork sometimes includes SSNs and banking details. Share it as an encrypted file over USB with the passphrase delivered in person.

💼

Freelancers and agencies

Clients hand over server logins, CMS credentials, and API keys. A Starkive link is cleaner and safer than forwarding email threads back and forth.
